Health & Environment Policy

Purpose and Scope

SSS Competence, Skills & Wellbeing CIC is committed to protecting the health of individuals involved in our work and minimising the environmental impact of our activities. We recognise that community wellbeing and environmental responsibility go hand in hand, and we will ensure both are prioritised across all projects and services.

Commitments

  • Health protection: Promote safe, supportive, and healthy environments in all CIC activities.
  • Wellbeing integration: Address both physical and mental health as part of a holistic approach to community support.
  • Environmental responsibility: Reduce waste, use resources efficiently, and operate in line with environmental legislation.
  • Sustainability focus: Work towards practices that prevent harm to people and protect the environment for future generations.
  • Continuous improvement: Regularly review and improve our health and environmental practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Board of Directors: Accountable for ensuring health and environmental responsibilities are embedded in governance.
  • Staff and volunteers: Expected to follow safe and sustainable practices and raise concerns where risks are identified.
  • Partners and contractors: Required to uphold the same health and environmental standards in joint work with the CIC.

Review and Accountability

This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation, regulation, or best practice changes. Updates will be approved by the Board of Directors and published on our website.
