Purpose and Scope

SSS Competence, Skills & Wellbeing CIC is committed to operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability. This policy ensures that any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest are identified and managed properly, protecting the reputation of the CIC and the trust of our stakeholders.

This policy applies to:

  • Directors and employees of the CIC.
  • Volunteers, contractors, and delivery partners.
  • Any individual or organisation engaged in CIC-supported projects or services where decision-making or influence is involved.

Commitments

  • Transparency: All individuals covered by this policy must declare any personal, financial, or other interests that could conflict with their duties to the CIC.
  • Prevention of undue influence: Decisions must always be taken in the best interests of the CIC and its beneficiaries, free from personal gain or favouritism.
  • Register of interests: The CIC will maintain a record of declared interests from directors and senior staff.
  • Decision-making safeguards: Individuals with a conflict of interest will not participate in related discussions, decisions, or votes.
  • Accountability: Any breach of this policy will be treated seriously and may result in disciplinary or contractual action.

Examples of Conflicts of Interest

  • Personal or family financial interest in a contract being considered by the CIC.
  • Involvement with another organisation whose aims or activities overlap or compete with the CIC.
  • Accepting gifts, hospitality, or benefits that could influence decision-making.
  • Using CIC information or resources for personal gain.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Board of Directors: Accountable for ensuring all conflicts of interest are declared, recorded, and managed.
  • Staff and volunteers: Responsible for being alert to conflicts, declaring them promptly, and withdrawing from relevant decisions.
  • Partners and contractors: Required to disclose any interests that may conflict with their work for or with the CIC.

Review and Accountability

This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation, regulation, or best practice changes. Updates will be approved by the Board of Directors and published on our website.
