Purpose and Scope

SSS Competence, Wellbeing & Skills CIC is committed to promoting equality, preventing discrimination, and supporting the wellbeing of all people we work with and for. This policy sets out how we ensure fairness, inclusion, dignity, and respect in every aspect of our activities, while creating safe, supportive environments that protect mental health and wellbeing.

This policy applies to:

  • Directors and employees of the CIC.
  • Volunteers, contractors, and delivery partners.
  • Any individual or organisation engaged in CIC-supported projects or services.

This policy is written in line with the Equality Act 2010, the Human Rights Act 1998, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, alongside recognised best practice on mental health and workplace wellbeing.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Commitments

  • Fair treatment: Everyone will be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Equal opportunities: Recruitment, partnerships, and community programmes will be free from discrimination and based on merit, fairness, and potential.
  • Inclusive environments: We will work to remove barriers to participation and ensure that activities and services are accessible to all.
  • Zero tolerance: Bullying, harassment, and discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated in any form.

Wellbeing Commitments

  • Prevention first: We aim to create conditions that protect wellbeing and reduce stress, harm, or exclusion.
  • Mental health awareness: We encourage open conversations and provide guidance to reduce stigma around mental health.
  • Supportive culture: Individuals will be signposted to appropriate wellbeing resources or services where needed.
  • Healthy working practices: We promote safe workloads, fair treatment, and environments where people can thrive.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Board of Directors: Holds overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with equality law and embedding wellbeing in governance.
  • Managers, staff, and volunteers: Must apply this policy in day-to-day activities, treat others fairly, and raise concerns where discrimination or harm is identified.
  • Partners and contractors: Expected to uphold the same principles in joint work with the CIC.

Review and Accountability

This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation, regulation, or best practice changes. Updates will be approved by the Board of Directors and published on our website.
